In recent years, students from Driestar Lekkerkerk dedicated themselves to the renovation of the Jewish cemetery, working alongside a local gardener. They did so as part of their cultural arts education. Their motivation was rooted in the school’s Biblical connection to the history and the God of Israel. Together with those involved, they created a design for the redevelopment in which symbolism was woven: a narrowing path.

During the renovation, the idea arose to add an artwork. Duifhuizen was invited, who built upon the realized design of the cemetery and introduced a vertical element.

But You, O God, remain the same forever!
Thus emerged a double perspective. Life does not end with the horizontal, temporal view: there is also the vertical, the eternal perspective.
